Roller Shades FAQ
What's the difference between roller and solar screen shades?
A solar screen shade is a roller shade with an open-weave fabric. It cuts glare, heat and UV while you can still see outside during the day. At night, when it's brighter inside, screen fabrics don't give full privacy, so bedrooms usually get a room-darkening fabric instead.
Can roller shades block all light?
Blackout fabrics block nearly all light through the fabric. A little light can show at the edges; side channels or a fascia help, and we'll talk through the best setup for your windows.
Are roller shades good for large windows?
Yes. They handle wide windows well, and with PowerView® Automation a whole wall of shades can move together.
Can I layer a roller shade with drapery?
Absolutely. A roller shade for light control behind side panels or full drapery is one of the most popular combinations we install.

We love the product - Hunter Douglas SkyLift shades that Well Dressed Window installed a few years ago - they look great and gently block the sunlight when it's too strong..... And the service is also terrific! Staff associate Nolan changed the batteries in the lift motor and he couldn't have been more professional and smart - the motor is hidden away but he found it and video'd it so that next time the process will go even more smoothly! A-1 service!!!
I am so pleased with my window treatments. Corey and Maddie’s recommendations were so helpful. My motorized woven woods are a dream, color choice is perfect and warms up my living room and dining beautifully. The roller shades in my kitchen are great too. Corey was fun to work with and had great suggestions while listening to what I told him I was trying to achieve. They measured and then installer remeasured before they were ordered to insure accuracy which I greatly appreciated. Installation was smooth and very professional, which I appreciated as well.
